THE ARCHAEOLOGIST (in memory of V. A. Kuznetsov)

Abstract

The article is an announcement of the last work of the prominent Russian scientist and archaeologist V.A. Kuznetsov, who died in 2024. The article entitled “A Retrospective of Don Alania in Light of Information from the Venetian Josaphat Barbaro. A Brief Historical Essay” was submitted by him to the editorial board of the journal “Nartamongæ” shortly before his death. Already during the work on the manuscript, the editor-in-chief of the journal Boris Mysykkaty processed it, supplementing it with an appendix, which significantly enriched the text of V.A. Kuznetsov. In addition, the article presents an autobiographical essay of the scientist, written by him shortly before his death, which will also be of interest to all researchers of the scientific heritage of V.A. Kuznetsov.
